Welcome to Edition 2 of the HPSP Newsletter

13.09.18

Term 2 and 3 have seen some staffing announcements; some exciting personal success stories for HPSP student-athletes; and the continuation of the ever-evolving program itself. We are currently busy planning for our first HPSP camp being held at Marist Park, on Friday 2 November and Saturday 3 November. Please be advised there will be no cost to families. This camp will be a combination of team orientated, intense full-body cardiovascular and strength workouts, with problem solving and mental challenges aimed at taking our student athletes out of their comfort zone. All activities will be conducted in a supportive and safe environment while promoting mental toughness and resilience to achieve success. More details will be distributed to students and families very shortly, but we promise this camp will be fun, challenging and engaging.

We have welcomed Richard Hill and Tom Daly to our basketball program. Their knowledge and experience within basketball and sport in general will be invaluable and welcomed by the HPSP team. They have already met most families and have made themselves available for questions or feedback. Please also make note that on Tuesday 30 October and Thursday 1 November you will be able to make appointments with both coaches at the parent and teacher interview afternoons. More information from the College will be provided soon.

Subject selection for HPSP in 2019 are well underway. Please join us on Thursday 15 November in the Lecture Theatre for the 2019 Information Evening. Along with the invite in this newsletter we will also be sending home a reminder to all HPSP families. The program in 2019 will welcome back Netball with Kaitlin Egan as the Head Coach. We were delighted to announce recently that Donna Denton will also be offering her expertise as a Specialist Coach during the first part of the year in the lead up to Netball Nationals.

We are always trying to find ways to have more streamlined and effective means of communication with families. With this in mind, I invite you to log onto the Skoolbag app and select the new HPSP tab, which will enable you to receive HPSP specific reminders and upcoming event information.

If you have an image or information about your child competing in their respective sport, and are happy for this to be shared on social media, the newsletter or other College publications, please forward to me with the relevant information.

We thank our three sponsors, Dycer Constructions, Your Podiatrist and ILM (Innovative Leisure Management)
